Dogfest 2017 - family day out!
On Saturday and Sunday, we were very excited to be invited to Dogfest South in Herefordshire as VIP's to share our experience on Instagram and our blog! DogFest is a yearly festival that happens twice a year and is ran by Channel 4's Supervet, Professor Noel Fitzpatrick - who is a huge inspiration to me. It's an amazing event for all lovers with stands to shop until you drop and lots of doggie have-a-go activities. And to top it all off, you can bring your dog too!
On Sunday, we arrived at 11am and quickly rushed to the Top Dog ring to enter the 'best trick' class. Rio was a bit too overwhelmed by all the new sights and smells, so was a bit distracted, but I managed to get his attention with some Neoh & Nobo biscuits! Our routine included leg weaves, reversing, going shy, jumping through hoops, sitting pretty and two body rebounds for the grand finale! Somehow we managed to pull off a 2nd to a very clever Shihtzu who gave her owner tissues when she sneezed - it was adorable. To make it even better, the class was judged by Lucy Heath who is a finalist on BGT 2016 with her dog, Trip Hazard!
It was then time for shopping and visiting companies that we have worked with in the past. We were very surprised to see an Edgard & Cooper stand as we didn't know they were going to be at Dogfest. Nevertheless, Rio and I said hello to Rebecca who very kindly sent Rio lots of goodies to review for the blog - she was so lovely! As you can see, Rio got quite friendly with Rebecca, but was very thankful for all the food!
Rio also visited the Fish4Dogs stand - a dog food company who sell all things fishy! As you can imagine, Rio was drooling away and the lovely salesman couldn't help but give Rio a few packets of treats to take home. We have been working with F4D for 2 years now and are a huge fan of their products!
I was very intrigued by the Leucillin stand so I headed over and has a chat with the owner about the product. Being the owner of 5 dogs, 2 of which are breeds with sensitive skin, skin irritation and hotspots are very common, so making sure they are comfortable and healthy is my priority. Leucillin is an antibacterial spray which is non-toxic and immitates the body's immune stystem. They gifted us with a bottle to review for the blog, so stay tuned to find out how we got on with it! Everyone at the stand loved Rio and laughed about how much of a professional model he is!
It was very exciting to meet Roseanna and her dog, Pepe (@pepeandcompany on Instagram) who are part of the team behind The Big Tick Project ! You may remember that we wrote a blog about this awareness project in April and it was lovely to support such an important cause.
We also visited the team at PitPat - this is a tracker which records your dog's activity and resting, it also calculated a recommended amount of play, rest and activity depending on the dog's age, weight and breed! Rio is now an official PitPat ambassador and has been given a PitPat to review! As you can see, they had an awesome beach-themed stand and I couldn't resist taking some photos.
After following Guru Pet Food since they started their Instagram account, it was very exciting to meet the team! Rio loved all of the attention and treats he was given! We was given a sample of Surf & Turf and 2 Trip bones to try out!
We also met Katarina, the owner of Elite Hound who sell gorgeous leashes and collars. They sent Rio a beautiful collar and leash set back in January and it was lovely to meet Katarina and her beautiful dogs in person! As you can see from the photo, she really does sell the best canine accessories.
I hope you enjoyed our run down of DogFest 2017!
